As
"Warbirds" is set to re-air on the Syfy Channel August 8th (11 pm EST/PST), I thought it might be of interest to share some details from behind-the-scenes.
The two images accompanying this post were the concept drawings for our Pterodon villains, created by the very talented
Tim Petre. Image #1 is obviously our monster in full flight, and a closeup of the head. Image #2 is a reference guide to Pterodon legs so we could build practicals to use on the set.
Tim also built, textured, and rigged the final 3D creatures. I mentioned he was talented, right?

Actually, while
"Warbirds" was a tough project for numerous reasons we were very lucky to work with some great people, not the least of which was our animation team:
-
Yancy Calzada, Master Character Animator.
-
Bill Arbanas, Builder of WWII aircraft.
-
Fred Aldeschulte, Creator of Islands, and Shattered Planes.
These three gentlemen, my producing partner
Christian McIntire, and I animated the 205 FX shots needed for the film in 15 weeks. (I know, I can't believe it myself.) Mr. McIntire also composited most of the film.
As the air date gets closer I'll post more about the process and the friends we made on this film. Stay tuned.
